Are Any Of The Medifast Meals Cheaper Than The Others?

ByLindsey Price

I often hear from people who are trying to do Medifast on a budget. To that end, many want to do a regimen that is sort of piecemeal, meaning that they want to just order some very inexpensive individual foods. I heard from someone who said: "which meals are the cheapest that you can order on Medifast? Because I'm on a tight budget and I want to be able to do this as cheaply as possible." I will share my reply in the following article.

The Individual Items On Medifast Are Priced Similarly: The company does offer items for individual sale. However, most come in a box of 7 meals for convenience. People sometimes assume that some of the more common or popular items (like the shakes or bars) are a little cheaper than some of the other items. This isn't really the case. In fact, most of the items are priced in the same way. I'll give you some concrete examples to demonstrate my point. A box of 7 shakes is around $16. And, the same is true for a box of 7 bars. In fact, the same is true whether you are talking about a box of brownies, soups, eggs, oatmeal, fruit drinks, hot drinks or any of the food items that they sell by the box. In other words, no matter what you are ordering, at least as of this writing, you're going to be paying around $16 for about 7 units or about $2.28 per meal. The ready to drink shakes are the exception because they come in cases of 24 for about 64 dollars, making them about $2.60 per item, but I suppose you are paying for convenience since these are ready to drink and you don't have to mix these up.

Bulk Buying Is One Way To Get Cheaper Meals: I didn't know how much weight this person had to lose. But if it were more than 20 pounds (where she'd need to be on the diet for more than a couple of weeks) then it would make a lot of sense to order a package. Here's why. A women's 4 week package runs about $300, but you get 143 meals. Now, this makes the cost per meal is about $2.09. But that is before you use coupons, which you can do when you order a package. Generally, depending on what is running at the time, you can find and links that will save you over $50 per package. So once you take this into account, this brings the cost per meal down to about $1.75 each and this would be the cheapest option for any of the meals.

So to answer the question posed, the cheapest Medifast meals are very often those that are purchased as part of a package. The individual meals all costs the same (which is around $16 for 7,) unless you're ordering the ready to drink shakes, which are slightly more expensive.
