How Do You Stick With Nutrisystem If You Travel Or Go On Vacation?

ByAva Alderman

I sometimes hear from people who are wondering how the Nutrisystem diet is going to fit into their busy lifestyle which includes a lot of travel. Many worry that they won't be able to stay in compliance when they travel. And some people travel quite a bit for their jobs or as part of their lifestyle. I heard from someone who said: "I travel 2 weeks out of every month for my job. I really want to try Nutrisystem but I'm not sure if it's going to be possible with all of my travels. If I have to go off the diet when I travel, I'm not sure if I'm going to lose weight."

I actually think that it's possible to lose some weight if you had to go off of the diet occasionally. After all, people on the flex plan take off two days out of every week and many of them do just fine with their weight loss. However, I also think that you can stay on the diet and be in compliance even if you have to travel or even if you want to go on vacation. The reason for this is that many of the meals don't require any preparation. And those that do sometimes only need hot water, which is typically readily available. Most of the Nutrisystem foods are packaged so that they don't take up a lot of room or can lay flat. So it would not be too difficult to travel with your foods.

To show what I mean, I'll look at a day's worth of meals and what it would take to prepare them. For breakfast, you could have the chocolate chip scone which doesn't require any preparation. Lunch could be the fettuccine Alfredo which doesn't require anything more than a little hot water. A good snack might be the pretzels which only require removing the wrapper. Dinner could be mac and cheese with beef which also only requires water. An example of a good dessert might be a peanut butter cookie which is already made for you.

In short, it would not be too difficult to plan and then pack enough foods for the entire trip. If you chose the pre made meals carefully, you really shouldn't need more than access to hot water in order to prepare your meals. Many places have water coolers that provide both hot and cold water. And access to a microwave is often quite easy in most travel hotels. In short, traveling or going on vacation with nutrisystem is actually not all that difficult in my opinion and experience. Alternatively, some people will adopt a program similar to the flex plan where they allow themselves to take a few meals off while traveling in order to give themselves some flexibility.

What Is The Nutritional Content Of The New Nutrisystem Shakes?

ByAva Alderman

I've started getting a lot of emails about the new Nutrisystem protein shakes. People seem a little concerned about the caloric, carbohydrate, and protein content. In short, people just want to make sure that by consuming the shakes, they aren't taking in too many calories or carbs and sabotaging all of their hard work and compliance for the rest of the day. So, in the following article, I'll take a look at the nutritional content of this new product.

First of all, there are 4 flavors to choose from here, as follows: chocolate; coffee; strawberry; and vanilla. The taste of the shakes are very highly rated by users. The coffee is rated the highest with the chocolate being a close second. However, all of the flavors are rated at least 4 out of 5 possible stars. There are very slight variations in the nutritional content of the shakes. For example, the coffee flavor has 10 additional calories than the others. And the chocolate has one more gram of sugar. But generally speaking, all of the flavors are very similar to one another in terms of nutrition and calories. You're looking at around 110 - 120 calories each. The sugar content is generally anywhere from 6 - 8 grams. And the protein remains consistent for all of the flavors at around 15 grams. The carbohydrate content is generally only around 8 grams.

This is pretty much in line with the other snacks on the menu that are meant to eat between the larger meals. In fact, some of the snacks contain a few more calories than the protein shakes. The popcorn comes in at 140 and the cheese puffs come in at 150. But the idea is that you should be able to choose any snack or shake item on the menu to consume between meals and still be well within your daily calorie range for the day.

So to answer one of the more common questions, these shakes appear to not only be nutritionally sound, but in alignment with the goals of the diet. 110 to 120 calories is certainly diet friendly as is the 15 grams of protein. People commonly ask me how you can get the shakes. Right now, they are included in the packages as part of the new success line. You generally are given enough to have one shake per day. I've searched for the shakes on the a la carte or individual menu and so far, I have not found them. This probably doesn't mean that they will never be available for individual sale. But as of right now, I'm not finding them.

Nutrisystem To Lose A Small Amount Of Weight: Is It A Good Idea?

ByAva Alderman

I sometimes hear from people who are in the fortunate position that they don't need to lose a huge amount of weight. Of course, the person themselves may not consider themselves all that lucky. But I think that few would argue that needing to lose less than 20 pounds is better than needing to lose many more than 20. Nonetheless, I heard from someone who said: "I probably only need to lose about 18 pounds. But when I told my coworker that I was considering Nutrisystem, she asked me why I would need a special diet to lose such a small amount of weight. She said that I could just diet on my own and save my money. The thing is, I've tried to lose this weight on my own and, so far, I've been unsuccessful. Is Nutrisystem worth it if you only have a small amount of weight to lose?"

I'll answer that question with my own opinion in just a bit, but first I want to say that many people don't understand how truly difficult it can be to lose those stubborn but few pounds. People who haven't been in this situation wonder why you'd need a special diet to lose a small amount of weight. But people actually experiencing this scenario know that it's tougher than many think, Right now, Nutrisystem is offering 40 percent off AND one week free. I can't remember this good of a deal. Here is the link

Look at it this way. 3500 calories equals about one pound of fat. So, in order to lose even one pound, you need to burn about 3500 more calories than you take in. Since most people don't have the time or inclination to exercise non stop, many people would rather combine diet and exercise. If you've ever looked at your daily grocery store diet and pondered how to shed off that many calories without missing them, then you know what a tall order this is. Sure, you would need to do this over the course of more than one day. But even then, it's very difficult to cut out that many calories and not feel deprived by eating mostly salads and other bland foods.

That's why I think that Nutrisystem can be worth it when you've already tried losing the small amount of weight on your own and are wanting or willing to try something new, as was the case here. You take in around 1500 calories per day on the diet and the range of weight loss is around 2 - 3 pounds per week, which I feel is pretty reasonable. Plus, it's my experience that you don't feel all that deprived. You eat three meals plus a shake, a snack, and a dessert. And the food itself is actually pretty decent with hamburgers, lasagna, and ice cream sundaes as just a few examples of what is on the menu.

The person who wrote to me said she needed to lose 18 pounds. If you take the mean weight loss to figure a 2.5 weekly weight loss, then she was looking at around 7 weeks on the program. If she ordered only 2 monthly packages, she'd probably spend a comparable amount to what she would spend on groceries (I've even had people tell me they spend less money on Nutrisystem than their grocery budget.) And, so long as she complied with the plan, she would've met her goal in less than 2 months. Now, I can't speak for her. But to me, that would certainly be worth it because I would have gotten to eat food preferable to the salads and hard boiled eggs that I would probably try to eat if I was dieting on my own. And she had already said that her methods weren't getting her the results that she wanted so this could indicate that trying something new was necessary.
