The Great Benefits of Juice Diets

ByAdrian C Pursglove

Expert Author Adrian C Pursglove

Juicing fruit and vegetables is an advantageous way to give your body a bump-start of great nutrition. I set-out quite a few benefits in my previous article but wanted to build on these ideas.

Juicing is becoming increasingly popular and we have started to understand how beneficial it can be, but some of the articles I have read seem to get a bit confusing. I don't want to encounter confusing medical jargon about the mystery of how my body works, I want to know in easily understood terms; what it does and how that benefits me. I don't want to be blinded with science so I shall try to do this in the following article; I want to set-out 3 excellent explanations as to why juicing benefits your body:

1. Juiced fruit and veggies get digested easier than food that hasn't been juiced meaning the natural goodness gets into your body quicker.

2. When you juice, you are consuming more fruits and veggies than you would actually eat if they were whole. Therefore you get even more concentrated vitamin and mineral natural goodness about your body.

3. Detoxification - Put simply, nearly all the pre-prepared food we consume have a large number of different chemicals like preservatives and colourings, these preservatives and colourings are not natural for the body and can in time be harmful. Drinking freshly squeezed juice helps to wash these harmful chemicals (toxins) away

Below are how the body can benefit from juicing:

Getting a heart that beats with health:

The health filled vitamins in Fruit and veg such as vitamins C and E help the blood to work efficiently and to stop it clogging up. You may have heard of Cholesterol and Triglycerides but quite simply they are the fat content in your blood which can cause, amongst other things, heart disease. Blood that has health makes it all run smoothly (Cardiovascular system) and so is really good for your vital organs and a healthy heart. Vitamin C is known to be in most vegetables and fruits, some more so than others. Some may be surprising, here are the top ten:

1: Hot Red & Green Peppers (Chilli)

2: Guavas

3: Bell Peppers

4: Herbs such as Thyme & Parsley

5: Greens (Dark & leafy)

6: Broccoli, Cauliflower, Brussels Sprouts

7: Kiwi Fruits (Chinese Gooseberries)

8: Pawpaw

9: Oranges and Clementines (Tangerines)

10: Strawberries

Vitamin E is present in the following fruit and vegetables; mango, blackberries, kiwi, asparagus and spinach. Potassium is excellent for the heart and liver because it fights against the negative effect of salt which is in a lot of our pre-packaged food. Fruit and veg bursting in Potassium are; broccoli, peas, tomatoes, citrus fruits, cantaloupe, bananas and apricots. A good reason why juicing fruit & veg is because you don't consume too many natural vitamins whereas taking into your bodies too many vitamins through supplements is not such a good idea. Magnesium ensures the heart functions properly and ensuring the heart beats constantly. Magnesium is found in plentiful supply in bananas, guavas dates and passion fruit.

When juicing, not only is there a rich supply of the aforementioned vitamins and minerals but you can also lose weight meaning less strain on the body's organs.

Detoxify

The liver has lots of important purposes, such as making sure the blood is cleansed by removing not wanted toxins & chemicals. As has been mentioned previously these toxins are found in a lot of the food we eat and are part of modern life and juicing helps to dilute these toxins and chemicals and enables the body to extricate them. You may have heard of the nutrients I am just about to list which all aid in detoxifying the body by strengthening your liver; antioxidants beta-carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, and N-acetyl cysteine and niacin. Foods rich in these nutrients are; Lemons, oranges and limes, Onions, carrots, artichoke, asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, kale, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, garlic, beet, turmeric, and oregano.

Alkalizing your body (vegetables):

Fruit can often be acidic, to allow for a balance of this it is preferable to eat foods which are more alkali (such as vegetables) which is why it is best to mix fruit and vegetables when getting ready for juicing. This process can be quite complex and requires some help. I have recommended a great course that provides for you to keep this balance and the best fruit and vegetables to use and how the combinations work and what the benefit is. I haven't got enough time in this article to go into all the reasons why the PH level of ones body should be less acidic so I have set forth just a few reasons;
• Improved brain function
• Ensures blood sugar levels are normal
• Helps maintain proper cholesterol levels
• ensuring the heart works well
• helps to maintain the circulatory system and that it is healthy
• Encourages normal energy levels
• The promotion of sound joints and healthy bones,
• healthy immunity

The digestive system works well Ensuring a healthy skin with good hair, eyes and nails:

There are vitamins which give healthy looking hair and skin. Vitamins A, C, E and Zinc (to name a few) Vitamin A helps to strengthen your teeth, soft tissue, mucous membranes, vision and skin. Vitamin A is known to be in dark-colored vegetables, Carrots, pumpkin, spinach, grapefruit, apricots and broccoli these have healthy levels of beta carotene. Beta-carotene (as an antioxidant), helps the body in its fight against free radicals, which sound like some subversive left-wing group but are actually not very nice molecules that make you look older and can contribute to certain chronic diseases. By juicing blackberries and blueberries together will give your body with a really good source of vitamins C and E. Not having enough riboflavin (vitamin B2) has been known to cause cracked lips, hair loss, dermatitis, greasy looking skin and other types of skin conditions. Foods packed with Riboflavin are; Avocado, Banana, grapes, mangoes, passion fruit, mulberries, Kale, spinach, mushrooms and asparagus. Probably the best vitamin for eye health is vitamin A and specifically beta-carotene, which is in orange colored fruits and vegetables. The body converts Beta-carotene into vitamin A. You've probably heard that eating carrots helps you see in the dark! Well this is not too far from the truth, they should certainly help you to see better as vitamin A is really important for your retina to work properly and prevent a condition called night blindness happening.

Burning energy!!

Because your juice is packed with minerals and vitamins means the body is packed with energy. A lot like filling only the best type of oil in your automobile rather than filling up with Some really poor grade engine oil that hasn't been changed in ages!!

Weight loss

You may have wondered when this was coming. Is this what you might have been 'weighting' for (sorry!!) You probably know the answer, It's why you've read all the way through this article. We all like out high fat, sugar laden foods (Unless you're one of those people that don't have this problem and in which case aren't even reading this!) The thing I love about fresh fruit and veg is the natural sweetness, Only that which is natural and healthy not processed. I'm committed to helping you lose weight like I have and feel so much healthier in your own skin, but it's not only about weight loss, it's about your body feeling healthy and having a vibrancy of life.

Why not visit my website www.juicediets.org and find out a great deal more and also have a look at my top recommendation. Hope to see you there!

About the Atkins Diet and Great Atkins Recipes

ByBrittany Stanzas

The Atkins diet is broken into 9 "rungs" of steps back to eating carbohydrates. The rungs are added in one week at a time during the "Ongoing Weight Loss" stage or "OWL" stage. This stage is designed to allow each person to find their critical carbohydrate level for losing and to teach the dieter to eat these foods within reason, handle their glycemic levels and control cravings. This phase begins when a person is within 10 pounds of their target weight. The rungs have to be reached in order but rungs can be skipped if you do not intend to include that food into your diet permanently, like the alcohol rung. The overall goal is to add 5 net grams of carbs each week to your daily carbohydrate intake. Each rung incorporates 5 more net grams into your daily intake so by the end of the ladder you will have 45 additional net grams of carbs then you started with.

The first rung is adding more acceptable vegetables in higher quantities into your diet. This can be as simple as eating more salad or incorporating more cooked vegetables as side dishes to your regular Atkins meals. Keep in mind you are still limited to the introduction approved vegetables. The next rung is fresh cheese or fresh dairy. Adding in more milk, yogurt and other dairy items to your diet while still following a more regimented plan. Some of the dairy options include hard cheese, cream, half an half, sour cream and low carb ice-cream yogurt and milk. The third rung is nuts and seeds. Adding almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds, etc into your meal brings in healthy fats and nutrients and are easy to incorporate into a low carb diet. Top cooked vegetables or salads with nuts or eat them as an easy snack. You can find lots of great Atkins recipes for the new stages of your diet, with options to include dairy, seeds, nuts and more vegetables.

Berries are the 4th rung and include all types of berries like blackberries, strawberries and raspberries. Some limited quantities of melons are also allowed. AGR melons are allowed including watermelon, honeydew and cantaloupe. The 5th rung is alcohol and includes low carbohydrate beer, white and red wine and spirits. Spirits do not have carbohydrate but low carb beer and wine do so choose wisely and keep portions limited. Also it is important to remember that your body burns alcohol before fat so you can stall your weight loss by drinking too much, if you notice this refrain from drinking until you are back on track.

After alcohol you get to the legume rung. The 6th rung allows you to add in lots of different beans, humus and chickpeas, tofu and other soy products. It is important at this point you make note of eating higher AGR foods and make sure not to eat them alone because of their affect on your blood sugar. Make sure to eat them with high fat and high fiber foods to minimize the affects on your blood sugar. Adding legumes into your diet is easy if you know the right Atkins diet recipes to follow, your new rungs allows you to incorporate a wider variety of tastes and flavors. The 7th rung allows you to add in more fruits, in addition to the berries and melons from rung 4. Kiwi, apples, citrus fruits and peaches are some of your fruit options. Continue to avoid dried fruit because they can be very sugar dense and in one small piece you may consume as many carbohydrate as an entire fruit.

Starchy vegetables are next and include carrots, squash and green peas. Corn and potatoes can be added as occasional treats. Remember to keep your starchy vegetables portions small. Finally the 9th rung of the ladder is the whole grains rung. Make sure you keep your grains whole and unprocessed with small portions. You can eat oatmeal, wheat bran, low-carb breads and muffins, cooked barley and a few other whole grain options.

The rungs of the Atkins diet are designed to bring you make to a more normal eating plan, slowly reintroducing more common foods with higher carbohydrate counts. It is important you continue to count your net carbs and keep them within your diet parameters to maintain your weight loss and keep you body at its new healthy weight.

The summertime is a great time not only to shed some layers of clothing but also to shed some pounds. Many people undergo summertime diets in order to feel lighter and to look better in a bikini. A great way to start a healthy diet is to enjoy the fruits and vegetables of the season.

Some of the best summer diet foods include tomatoes and red peppers. Both of these fruits are rich in vitamin A, vitamin C and lycopene. A medium size tomato contains approximately 35 calories, very low carbs, 40% of daily vitamin C intake, and 20% of daily vitamin A intake. A top of its nutritional value, tomatoes also reduce the risk of prostate and digestive tract cancer. Peppers on the other hand, are rich in the antioxidant known as beta carotene. Beta carotene boosts the immune system and prevents the body from cell damage caused by free radicals. Peppers also provide the body with exceptional amounts of vitamin C. Just half a cup of peppers contain 230% of the daily vitamin C intake. So try to incorporate some of these fruit into your daily diet in order to boost your health and reduce your weight.

Some other excellent diet foods include yogurt and fiber packed beans. Yogurt is beneficial to your diet because it is loaded with calcium and protein. There are numerous choices out there today when it comes to yogurt. The most important thing to remember is to choose a yogurt that is fat free or reduced fat. The taste remains the same but the calories are cut in half. Another great diet food is beans. Beans are packed with fiber and protein which makes them a great alternative to heavy meats. If you found your summer diet to be unsuccessful, try incorporating some of these great diet foods into your nutritional regimen.
